Bring one valid government-issued ID, your NPCS appointment reference number and proof of online payment. Your photo, signature and fingerprints are taken at the station. First-time job seekers also bring their barangay FTJS certification for the free clearance.

The basic requirements

These come from the PNP's official "How to apply for a National Police Clearance" guide:

  • One (1) valid government-issued ID, original.
  • Proof of payment: the payment confirmation slip or electronic official receipt (e-OR).
  • Reference number of your NPC appointment, shown on your Transactions page.

At the station you'll also have your biometrics, photo and signature taken, so you must appear in person (unless you are renewing without appearance).

Which IDs are accepted?

The PNP asks for a valid government-issued ID. Commonly accepted examples include:

  • Philippine passport
  • PhilSys National ID (PhilID or ePhilID)
  • Driver's license
  • UMID, SSS or GSIS ID
  • PRC ID
  • Postal ID
  • Voter's ID or voter's certification

More options: list of valid IDs in the Philippines.

Bring a second ID. The official guide asks for one, but a spare ID saves a wasted trip if the station can't accept your first one or its details don't match your profile.

Make your profile match your ID

The name, birth date and other details you type in your NPCS profile are what gets printed. The registration page warns that wrong details on the printed clearance come from errors in the data you entered. Before booking, check:

  • Full name, including middle name and any qualifier (Jr., III)
  • Birth date and birthplace
  • Current address

First-time job seekers

Under RA 11261 (First Time Jobseekers Assistance Act), you can get the police clearance free once. Tick the first-time job seeker box in your profile, then bring your FTJS certification from your barangay plus one valid ID. See the first-time job seeker guide.

Renewals without appearance

If you renew without going to the station, the requirements are uploaded instead: a 2x2 photo with a white background and a selfie holding your valid government ID. This is only allowed within three years of your last appearance. See renewal.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a school ID or company ID?

The PNP asks for a government-issued ID. A school or company ID may not be accepted, so bring a government ID such as a PhilID, passport, driver's license, UMID or postal ID.

Do I need to bring a 2x2 photo to the station?

No. Your photo is taken at the station. A 2x2 photo is only uploaded when you renew without appearance.

Can someone else get my police clearance for me?

For first-time applicants, personal appearance is required because your photo, electronic signature and biometrics are captured at the station.
